Besides diamonds, I'm pretty sure shoes are a woman's best friend.
As a self-confessed shoe addict, I would love nothing more than a closet full of shoes! but, I'm no Carrie Bradshaw.
But from whatever I own, I'm Back with a fashion lexis!
This time its indoctrinating you about the different types of shoes.
We usually pigeonhole shoes as being flats or heels, STOP! Henceforth they'll all have different names.
Whether you've just started working in a shoe department and want to be able to talk the lingo, or you've recently gotten really into fashion, knowing your shoe definitions is a useful skill.
Here we go-

D'orsay- The vamp and the sides of the shoes are cut away, revealing the arch of the foot and partially the toe.

Platforms- Pump with thick soles at least 4 inches in height.

Mary Jane- closed, low-cut shoes with one or more straps across the instep

Flip flops- Is not heeled, flat. Y shaped strap between the biggest toe and the others. (favourite footwear, haha).

Wedges- Occupies the entire space under the arch and heel portion of the foot.

Ankle strap- Has a strap that completely encircles the ankle.

Slingback- Backless with a strap that crosses behind the heel or ankle.

Stiletto- A tall slim heel with a minimum height of two inches. (Basically, the ones that give you Louboutin feel, haha! ).

Cone- Thick heel shaped as an icecream cone.

Chunky- A thick and tall heel with bold features.

Peep toes- The tip is cut away to keep the large toe partially exposed.

Spool- With a heel which is wide at the top and the bottom and narrow in the middle.
Like I always say, the next time you're at a shoe boutique, make sure you parade your lexis! Not only that, it makes it easier for you to look for the perfect pair to conquer the world!
