A little bit of jazz, plunging necklines, capes, off shoulders and lots of flowy silhouettes...?

OF COURSE! I'm talking about Manish Malhotra winter/festive 2016

When it’s a Manish Malhotra’s show, apart from Bollywood stars on the front row, you can expect grandeur, sparkle and magic — and the design maestro’s show on Day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 was no different.

Manish’s muse for this collection were the young Indian women who carry themselves with grace and elegance, keeping their traditions and modern values in sync with ease! The runway set was as jaw dropping as the designs were. Royal floral decor with glass chandeliers hanging of the roof, what a beguiling view.

The designs were out and out Indian craftsmanship at its best. He showcased resham threadwork, clustered sequins and intricate hand embroidery on dramatic trails and off-shoulder capes, alongside floral motifs, velvet and silk fabrics, tailored silhouettes, and unconventional pairing to seamlessly bring together the classic and the contemporary. The models wore Stunning statement jewellery by Anmol Jewellers that complemented each creation that made its way down the ramp.

Giving it the inventive twist - there were jacket-saris; lehengas paired with sheer crop blouses and draped dupattas on contemporary Anarkali. Elaborately detailed long tunics worn over cigarette pants and majestic, flowing backless gowns.

For the modern men, the collection showcased textured velvet bandh gala's, structured jackets and vests paired with Jodhpur pants. The outfits were styled with pocket-squares, jewelled buttons and embroidered silk scarves around the necks.

Tons of glitter and sequin made sure the Manish Malhotra aesthetic was kept intact. Indian handlooms, silks and crepes celebrated what has been worn in our country for generations. Capes replaced dupattas and anarkalis were paired with broad-legged pants instead of churidars.

The ever charming Sushant Singh Rajput and the very angelic Shraddha Kapoor closed the show. While shraddha sported a navy blue lehenga with zari details and sheer embroidered top, Sushant wore an elegant jodhpur kurta with a smart harem.

Manish Malhotra’s Winter Festive Collection was out from a dreamy fairy tale and is topping my lust list!
